[Remote] Accounting Associate (Executive Accounting Specialist Trainee)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking an Accounting Associate to join their Bureau of Accounting and Financial Management. In this role, you will review financial activity, prepare financial statements, and support accounting processes for grants, all while gaining valuable experience in state accounting practices.
Responsibilities
- Assist in reviewing agency accounting activity and supporting daily financial operations
- Help prepare financial statements and analyze information used for program decisions
- Review financial outcomes and communicate results to business partners
- Support accounting processes for assigned grants and prepare required federal reports
- Prepare reconciliations and review accounting adjustments for accuracy and documentation
- Work with accountants and auditors to solve issues and support business processes
Skills
- Three years as an Accounting Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and completion of 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
- Two years as a Fiscal Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and completion of 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
- A bachelor's degree including 21 credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 21 college credits in accounting and an additional 3 credits in finance or accounting
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree
- You must meet the PA residency requirement
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
