Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced ESL Teacher to join our team at Heartland Alliance in Chicago, IL. As a Resource ESL Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing instructional support and teaching English language learners in a dynamic and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to English language learners, utilizing existing curriculum and developing new materials as needed
• Create a welcoming and engaging learning environment, both online and in-person, to foster student success and growth
• Collaborate with team members to ensure instructional continuity and provide adequate student support
• Track attendance, administer pre/post-tests, and complete intake interviews with new students
• Perform administrative duties as needed, including program support and outreach

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required
• Minimum 2 years of experience teaching or tutoring, with a focus on ESL instruction
• Relevant lived experience in refugee resettlement or forced migration a plus
• Multilingual skills strongly preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software and systems
