The Opportunity:

On-Demand Mentors provide urgent project and technical support to students to advance their learning. Students often will encounter technical questions or roadblocks during the courses when their regular 1:1 mentor is not available. For these instances, the on-demand mentor can be a critical resource to answer questions and help unblock the student.

How it works:

• Students can schedule one-off 30-minute mentor video calls through YouCanBookMe (YCBM) whenever they feel stuck or have questions that cannot wait to their next mentor call
• Students can choose an available time slot for the call or can choose a specific mento
• As with the regular mentor calls, there is no minimum time commitment or specific time-slot availability requirements for ODMC mentors, which means that ODMC mentors have the flexibility to decide their availability on their calendars for this offering.

Expectations:

• Suggestion (not required) availability for at least 5 hours on average per week
• High degree of familiarity with the entire course curriculum
• Have empathy for students who are struggling
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills including being able to break down complex concepts for beginners
• Fill out feedback on the coach dashboard after each ODMC call

Compensation:

• On-demand Mentors are compensated per call
• We will count your regular mentor calls at the end of each month and add your ODMC payment to your normal honorarium distribution
