This position will be hired on a 12-month contract, running from July 1st to June 30th and annually renewable. The formal office title of this Clinical Instructor position is PROPEL Program Director.The Clinical Instructor, a full-time faculty member of ELRM’s School Leaders (K-12) Program, will support all aspects of PROPEL, a Florida Department of Education approved two-year Master’s/Certification/Specialist program. PROPEL provides Level 1 Educational Leadership Certification in partnership with Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) for its program graduates. Since 2011, PROPEL has admitted aspiring school leader cohorts of 20+ students on a yearly basis.Position responsibilities are to oversee and teach graduate classes virtually and/or on FAU campus sites, serve as program advisor to Master’s/Certification/Specialist students in the PROPEL program, supervise PROPEL students in field work, schedule courses, recruit and help in the hiring process and evaluation of program adjuncts, coordinate the PROPEL university-district partnership, serve as a liaison between FAU’s School Leaders Program and BCPS, and serve on program/department/university committees as assigned.The position entails participating in (a) the revision and continuous improvement of the Master’s/Certification/Specialist curriculum and coursework; (b) actualizing and implementing recruitment and selection protocols and procedures; (c) coordination and implementation/delivery of professional development for Master’s/Certification/Specialist faculty and adjuncts; (d) coordination of professional development provided by BCPS as a part of the PROPEL professional learning; (e) monthly and extraordinary meetings with fellow Program Directors, School Leaders faculty, and ELRM faculty; and (f) coordination and communication with key staff from BCPS school districts.The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in Educational Leadership or a related field from a regionally accredited college/university and possess Florida Level 1 Educational Leadership Certification.Additionally, the candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills and attributes:
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with district leaders, faculty, and staff.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Plan and conduct effective meetings with high-level administrators.
- Lead and facilitate professional learning of graduate students.
- Demonstrate an understanding of current developments and trends in school leadership, especially those in Florida.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of school district organization and functions, especially in Broward County Public Schools.
- Experience in educational leadership and project management, including knowledge of monitoring and implementing educational leadership policies and procedures in school, district, and higher education contexts.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks at a time, coordinate meeting logistics, and provide administrative support.
- Ability to develop a program grounded in a clearly recognized organizational culture and identity - shared by faculty, students, and partners – which has a sustained tradition of excellence among its graduates who demonstrate high-impact, ethical, and effective school leadership.
