Currently, we’re in need of a Paraprofessional proficient in ASL to work in a school located in Bremerton, Washington. The Special Education Teacher Assistant will assist the classroom teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students may take full advantage of the instructional program and available resources.

• $23 – $26.50 an hour*
• Participate in the instructional program under the direction of a certified teacher
• Work with groups of children based on grade level
• Work with children in learning centers and assist in the preparation and care of learning materials
• Assist in preparing classroom displays and bulletin boards
• Communicates relevant information regarding student’s behavior with parents
• Assist students with feeding, diapering, or toileting and charts time
• Care for classroom equipment and materials and may operate audio-visual equipment
• Assist with lunch, snack, and clean-up routine and assist children with clothing management based on grade level
• Participate in In-service training programs as required
• Assist certified teacher with classroom activities as directed
• Prepare training aids for the classroom as required
• Work with children with special needs

Requirements:

• Must be proficient in ASL
• Minimum of 6 months experience working with children
• Experience working with children with special needs, physical/mental disabilities, or behavior management
• Proficient in the use of standard computer applications
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
• The ability to work collaboratively with existing staff
