Job title: UAV Lead Software Developer in Fort Worth, TX at Genuent Company: Genuent Job description: Title: UAV Lead Software Developer Location: Fort Worth, TX On Site Position Type: Direct Hire Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled UAV Lead Software Developer to play a critical role in advancing the autonomy and performance of our UAV platforms. This role involves leading software development efforts, optimizing UAV systems, and integrating avionics to support both semi-autonomous and fully autonomous flight operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UAV software development, real-time systems, and avionics integration.Key Responsibilities:Software Development & Optimization:Lead the development of advanced software solutions to enable autonomous UAV operations, from testing protocols to full flight tests.Optimize software for enhanced performance, reliability, and safety in UAV systems.Flight Controller Integration:Integrate and configure flight controllers, such as Pixhawk, ArduPilot, and other platforms, with various payloads including Lidar, hyperspectral sensors, EO/IR, and electro-mechanical systems.Avionics Network Management:Work with avionics protocols such as ARINC 429, ARINC 664, MIL-STD-1553, ensuring seamless data communication between flight systems and ground-based control stations.Data Management & Transmission:Develop and implement processes for data transmission, including sensor data, mission logs, health status, and configuration files, ensuring secure and accurate data delivery to ground systems.Testing & Flight Operations:Participate in remote-controlled and autonomous UAV flight operations, collaborating with flight engineers to analyze vehicle test data in simulated and live flight environments.Collaboration & Process Improvement:Work closely with engineering and technical teams to deploy UAV platforms effectively.Engage in continuous process improvement efforts, identifying areas for software refinement and implementing innovative solutions.Qualifications:Experience: 5-8 years of UAV software development, with a strong focus on autonomous systems and flight controller integration.Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.Technical Proficiency:Advanced knowledge of Python, C++, and other relevant programming languages.Strong experience with Linux-based systems and real-time operating systems.Familiarity with Pixhawk, ArduPilot, or similar flight control systems.Experience with network protocols such as ARINC 429, ARINC 664, and MIL-STD-1553.Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Proven ability to debug complex systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions in high-pressure flight operations.Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.Software & Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word).Why Join Us?Opportunity to work on cutting-edge UAV technology in a dynamic and innovative environment.Collaborate with industry-leading experts in UAV systems, avionics, and software engineering.Competitive compensation package and opportunities for career growth.
