Welding Technician
ROLE: WHC Energy Services – A Surerus Murphy Company (WHC), is seeking to recruit a Welding Technician. The Welding Technician will be responsible for overseeing the company’s pipeline mobilization, testing, and various training activities for our specialized welding equipment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mobilizing and testing specialized welding equipment to ensure proper working order.
- Training and supervision of welders during procedure qualification tests and preparing associated process, procedure, and testing materials.
- Providing troubleshooting and guidance regarding welding issues during pipeline construction.
- Operating and adjusting equipment when moving from different pipe wall thickness.
- Providing supervision and training to junior welders to ensure welding activities are carried out without issue; and
- Performing other duties as assigned and consistent with the position.
Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school.
- Some college or industry courses in welding.
Experience
- Experience using the M300 Automatic Welding Machine.
- Experience with Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD) / Surface Tension Transfer (STT) Semi-Automatic systems for improving welding quality and productivity.
- Experience with Cellulose, BVB, TIG and Low Hydrogen Welding process.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of welding equipment used in pipeline construction and various welding activities.
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements (e.g. backing-up procedures, use of spotters, signage, incident reporting, required personal protective equipment, lifting heavy loads, etc.).
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position is field based and often works within remote project locations. Travel and/or living in temporary accommodations is required. Able to work 6 days on, 1 day off shift with10 hour shifts for the duration of project. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: The Welding Technician reports to the Lead Welding Technician.
