Nuclear Safety Engineer

They are seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to perform engineering calculations and support various safety evaluations under mentorship while developing skills for independent assignments.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations related to nuclear safety, fluid flow, probability risk assessment, equipment qualification, heat and mass transfer, by managerPrepare appropriate documentation supporting evaluations and analyses
- Verify routine design evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified
- Interface on a limited basis with customers, vendors, and other teams on engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments
- Obtain results to routine technical problems
- Develop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and support the strategic initiatives
- Identify and recommend improvements in processes on continuing basis and support implementation and identify and help develop new business opportunities
- Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirements
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical)
- 0-2 years coding experience in one or more of the following areas: Mathcad, C++, Fortran, and Visual Basic
- Experience in dispersion modeling and severe accident modeling and analysis
- Experience in thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, specifically with RELAP
- Experience in facility hazard modeling and analysis
- Experience in equipment qualification
- Laboratory experience with custom experiments
