Job Responsibilities
As an Experienced Technical Writer on our iX team, you'll be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality technical documentation, content, and user interface text that supports our customers' success. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Writing technical documentation for builders and cloud architects constructing solutions for their own personal Google Cloud
- Producing and curating content that supports customers' needs and goals
- Editing, clarifying, and proofreading files written by others, and training non-writers on techniques to enhance their writing skills
- Collaborating with a global team of Engineers, Product teams, content strategists, and other technical writers to ensure consistency, quality, and customer satisfaction
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in technical writing, with a proven track record of creating high-quality documentation and content
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear, concise manner
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Experience with HTML, Markdown, or Unix environments is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
If you have:
- A Master's degree in Writing, Engineering, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in technical writing, with a strong portfolio of work
- Experience working with cloud computing platforms, such as Google Cloud
- Strong knowledge of content management systems, such as Confluence or SharePoint
- Experience with user interface design and development, such as HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
Skills and Competencies
To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess:
- Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to create high-quality documentation and content
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as Google Cloud
- Experience with content management systems, such as Confluence or SharePoint
