Job Summary

As an Experienced Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our customers through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions. You will be the face of our organization, and your interactions will set the tone for our customers' experiences. You will work closely with our team to resolve customer inquiries, process payments, and provide information on our services. Key Responsibilities

* Handle heavy phone traffic for departments Citywide, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a friendly and professional manner

  • Perform routine office duties, including providing phone, electronic, and face-to-face support to customers, processing drop box payments, and handling incoming and outgoing mail
  • Assist with interdepartmental cash and reporting/tracking functions, ensuring accurate records and compliance with City of Denton and Customer Service internal cash handling policies
  • Process internal and external customer requests, including utility account connects, disconnects, and transfers, billing, rate, calculations, and payment arrangements
  • Receive, maintain, and account for monies for utilities, provide payment receipts, and balance cash drawer daily
  • Process commercial account set-ups, validate Tax IDs, and explain available solid waste services, calculate associated costs, and complete service contracts
  • Generate and process solid waste work orders, maintain and file contracts in an organized manner, and process, log, and file water leak adjustment and leak check requests
  • Assist with projects and perform back-office assignments as needed, and serve as a backup to Customer Service Rep II in their absence

Essential Qualifications

* High School diploma or equivalent

  • One (1) year of customer service experience
  • Six (6) months of cash handling experience
  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

Preferred Qualifications

* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field

  • Previous experience in a municipal or utility services environment
  • Certification in customer service or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other software systems

Skills and Competencies

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with customers, colleagues, and management in a professional and courteous manner

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve moderate problems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other software systems
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files, and to document all adjustments necessary and approved to complete the project
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written forms, and to speak publicly and listen intently to other points of view
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
