Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team. The person who fills this role will design and develop scalable and efficient cloud-based data systems to process large volumes of brain data, supporting model development, deep research, and scientific discovery, resulting in real-world impact on patients with physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build databases for massive-scale storage of heterogeneous and high-dimensional data and metadata

  • Design and develop systems for high-throughput data ingestion, pipelining, curation, and quality assessments

  • Characterize data throughput, efficiency, compressibility, and performance

  • Provide observability, monitoring, and logging for data pathways

  • Work collaboratively within a small team to integrate data platforms with research and product use cases

  • Ensure compliance with medical software standards and regulations.

  • Follow coding best practices to create and maintain reproducible, clear, and highly documented code.

Role Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Math, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or other relevant quantitative field

  • A minimum of 4 years of industry experience building solutions to manage large/massive datasets at scale

  • Experience working with distributed-data tools (e.g. Spark/Databricks, Delta Lake) and data formats (e.g. Apache Parquet, hdf5, relational data)

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with medical sensor data, time series data, and/or brain data.

  • Practical knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.

  • Expertise in production-quality Python for backend systems.

  • Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and related technologies

  • Experience working with Azure platforms

  • Experience working on medical or clinical applications

  • Experience developing data solutions for foundation modeling
