Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Buyer Planner / Supply Chain Specialist in Toronto area to join our supply chain/procurement team. Please note: This role is only open to candidates authorized to work and living in Toronto, Canada. The person will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, ensuring material availability, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and supporting production schedules. This role requires strong analytical skills, effective supplier management, and the ability to balance cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement & Purchasing
    • Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, components, and services based on production needs.
    • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
    • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, pricing, or delivery.
  • Planning & Scheduling
    • Collaborate with production planners to align material availability with production schedules.
    • Maintain accurate demand forecasts and adjust purchase plans accordingly.
    • Ensure inventory levels are optimized to meet service and cost targets.
  • Inventory Management
    • Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
    • Implement strategies to reduce lead times and improve inventory turnover.
    • Support cycle counting and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with engineering, quality, logistics, and finance teams to support business objectives.
    • Participate in new product introductions by sourcing required materials on time.
    • Provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain planning, or materials management.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in supply chain management (APICS CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent).
  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or technology industries.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and supplier development.
