Field Applications Specialist - Brazil

We’re looking for a Field Application Scientist (FAS) to join our team, reporting to the Associate Director, Field Applications. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role where you’ll provide expert technical guidance and consultancy to researchers, ensuring the successful application of ONT’s products in diverse research settings.

You’ll work closely with the sales team to deliver high-level pre- and post-sales support—including technical presentations, workshops, and troubleshooting—while strengthening customer relationships and positioning ONT as their preferred technology partner.

The role is highly technical and ideal for scientists who enjoy working directly with customers, bridging research needs with innovative sequencing solutions.

What You’ll Do

Customer Engagement & Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical support throughout the sales cycle, including experimental design, ONT software guidance, and data analysis support.
  • Deliver presentations, seminars, and on-site workshops for prospective and current customers.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for key customer accounts, ensuring their success with ONT products.

Collaboration & Consultancy

  • Work hand-in-hand with the sales team to develop tailored solutions for customer research challenges.
  • Liaise with internal Technical Support and Customer Solutions teams to address complex inquiries and escalate issues as needed.
  • Contribute to the organization and delivery of ONT events, including trade shows, user meetings, and scientific congresses.

Market Insight & Reporting

  • Document and track customer interactions and technical inquiries using CRM tools (Salesforce preferred).
  • Monitor competitor technologies, market developments, and customer feedback to inform internal teams.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Master's in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Life Sciences, or a related field. A PhD will be considered an asset.
  • Strong (dry and wet) lab experience with deep knowledge of molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, and related disciplines.
  • Fluency in English
  • Experience in a customer-facing or technical support role in a scientific or commercial setting.
  • Solid understanding of experimental design, sample preparation methodologies (DNA isolation, fragmentation, etc.), and data analysis.
  • Excellent presentation and teaching skills; able to explain complex concepts clearly to scientific audiences.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office; experience using CRM systems (Salesforce or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and programming languages such as R or Python (Numpy, Pandas).
  • Experience with data visualization techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments and with international teams.
