Staff Software Engineer

to help us build the next generation of proactive services that help homeowners reduce risk and protect their most valuable asset — their home.

In this role, you’ll help expand and enhance our

API suite of products

, connecting customers with trusted professionals, smart devices, and home services like roof repairs, resealing, and safety devices. You’ll join the

Policy Clearance team

, which is dedicated to creating service-oriented solutions that unlock impactful application experiences for both our customers and business partners.

What you’d be doing:

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to craft innovative capabilities in our API products, enabling the building blocks of new customer experiences.

• Design and implement modern Java services that connect our platform to integration partners, powering dynamic, user-friendly experiences.

• Make high-level technical and architectural decisions to ensure our solutions are secure, reliable, and scalable as we grow.

• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and design discussions to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.

• Expand and evolve our integration strategy, connecting third-party contractor networks, service providers, and our internal underwriting systems.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience. 

• 7+ years of experience building and deploying software applications. 

• Strong experience with Java and modern Java tooling for backend development.

• A proven track record of designing scalable, secure APIs and integration solutions.

• Experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.

• A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for building technology that makes a tangible difference.

Highly preferred candidates also have:

• Experience working in Insurtech or Fintech environments.

• Experience with Temporal workflow orchestration
