Distributed Cloud | Lead Azure Cloud Architect

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cloud Architect to join our dynamic technology team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, with a strong emphasis on supporting our Data and Artificial Intelligence initiatives. You will be instrumental in ensuring our Azure environment is scalable, secure, cost-effective, and optimized for high-performance data processing and AI/ML workloads. Your expertise in infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and scripting will be crucial in automating and streamlining our cloud operations.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of Azure infrastructure solutions to support Data Engineering, Data Science, and AI/ML platforms.

• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform to provision and manage Azure resources consistently and efficiently.

• Design and implement containerization strategies using Kubernetes (AKS) for scalable and resilient deployments of data and AI applications.

• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and AI/ML Engineers to understand their infrastructure requirements and translate them into robust and scalable cloud solutions.

• Implement and enforce best practices for security, compliance, and governance within the Azure environment.

• Optimize Azure infrastructure for performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure designs, configurations, and processes.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues related to data and AI workloads on Azure.

• Automate routine tasks and processes using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Evaluate and recommend new Azure services and technologies to enhance our data and AI capabilities.

• Contribute to the overall cloud strategy and roadmap.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

• Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.

• Proven experience architecting and deploying infrastructure to support Data Engineering (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage) and AI/ML solutions (e.g., Azure Machine Learning, Azure Cognitive Services).

• Deep understanding of Azure services, including compute, storage, networking, security, and data services.

• Mandatory strong proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.

• Mandatory hands-on experience with Kubernetes (Azure Kubernetes Service - AKS) for container orchestration.

• Mandatory strong scripting skills in at least one of the following: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

• Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a cloud environment.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience with agile development methodologies.

• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Bonus Points:

• Experience with other cloud providers such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure AI Engineer Associate).
