This role is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of recruitment, advising, pre-departure and the re-entry of outbound students who study abroad and away, and inbound exchange students who study at St. Mary's. In addition, the Assistant Director of International Education is the primary contact for the custom program portfolio at St. Mary's College of Maryland. This includes, but is not limited to, the development, recruitment, advising, and coordination of custom short-term and faculty-led programs both abroad and in the U.S. The Assistant Director will collaborate with colleagues from St. Mary's, provider and international partner institutions, and may perform the associated fiscal and administrative duties in support of the mission and objectives of the College and the Office of International Education (OIE). In the absence of the OIE Director, the Assistant Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of International Education. This full-time temporary contingent position has an annual salary range of $67,000-$72,000, depending on qualifications and experience, and may be eligible for limited benefits. It is an on-site full-time position, with a projected maximum of 40 hours per week. This new position offers support to the Office of International Education in alignment with the commitment to internationalization efforts outlined in SMCM's Rising Tide Strategic Plan. Qualifications: B.A. in international relations, international education management, student affairs, higher education, international studies, or other related fields is required; M.A. preferred. Some prior demonstrated experience in study or work abroad is required. At least three years of working in a related field is required; at least five years is preferred. Knowledge of faculty-led and/or custom program management is required, while advising is recommended. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential. Conversational proficiency in a language other than English is a plus. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
