Job Title: Law Librarian for Research Services - Join Our Team at Emory University

Embark on a Rewarding Career Opportunity as a Law Librarian for Research Services at Emory University, a top-tier law school located in the vibrant city of Atlanta. We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and service-oriented professional to join our team of 11 professional librarians at the Hugh F. MacMillan Law Library. This is a full-time hybrid position that offers a unique blend of research, teaching, and outreach opportunities, available immediately.

As a Law Librarian for Research Services, you will provide high-quality legal and non-legal research assistance to law library users, including students, faculty, members of the local bar, and the general public. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing classroom instruction in a variety of settings, ranging from for-credit instruction to one-off sessions
  • Offering scholarship support for law faculty and interacting with a variety of patron groups while staffing the library's Reference Desk
  • Supporting and participating in outreach programs targeting both students and faculty
  • Designing and teaching Advanced Legal Research courses
  • Creating and maintaining online research guides, bibliographies, and other materials to enhance access to legal information
  • Serving on law library and university library committees, engaging in professional development activities, and performing other associated duties as required

Qualifications

  • A JD from an ABA-accredited law school (or equivalent) and an MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent)
  • Experience conducting legal and non-legal research
  • Strong communication skills, including a high comfort level interacting with colleagues and a wide range of library users
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing library reference or customer service experience
  • Demonstrated success in teaching or public speaking
  • Desire to participate in professional law librarianship activities at regional and national levels
  • Foreign language knowledge
