Japanese Translator (volunteer)

Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time volunteer work to address climate change. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment. Responsibilities

• Help translate the Earth Hero app from English to Japanese.
• Review the test Japanese version before it is released to the public.
• Advise on how to better customize the Earth Hero app for Japan and Japanese-speaking users.
• Perform various ongoing translation tasks for Japanese. This could include helping respond to messages, translating for social media, and other things like website content, news articles, and reports.

Experiences useful in this role

• Native level fluency in Japanese.
• Familiar with the latest Japanese-language idioms and cultural references.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience as a translator and knowledge of translation software preferred.

Expectations You will work remotely and on your own schedule. Roles work best with a minimum commitment of 6 months for 2 - 5 hours a week (or more if you like!). Because our all-volunteer team is spread throughout the world, we rely mostly on a combination of Slack and video calls to communicate. If you possess a high level of self-motivation, work well independently, have strong collaboration skills, enjoy the opportunity to partner with like-minded individuals, and can commit quality time per week to help achieve team goals, we would love to hear from you.
