Primary Coach, Career Prep
The Primary Coach, Career Prep team is a critical front-line role responsible for guiding a cohort of undergraduate Fellows through the MLT Career Prep program. In this role, you will support Fellows in developing the skills, experiences, and confidence needed to secure top-tier internships and full-time roles across MLT’s employer partners.
As a Primary Coach, you will collaborate closely with Fellows, Track Directors, corporate partner liaisons, and internal program staff to ensure that each Fellow is progressing through the curriculum and meeting key milestones. Success in this role means combining high emotional intelligence with a results-oriented approach—holding Fellows accountable, tailoring guidance to individual needs, and identifying talent that aligns with the expectations of top employers. Your ability to coach and empower BIPOC students at pivotal career moments directly contributes to MLT’s mission of advancing racial equity through career and economic mobility.
This is a part-time opportunity with remote work arrangements.
What You'll Do:
- Coach a portfolio of Fellows through MLT’s Career Prep curriculum via 1:1 and group coaching sessions, providing personalized guidance aligned with each Fellow’s career roadmap.
- Track and manage Fellow outcomes, progress, and key qualitative insights in MLT’s data systems to ensure accountability and program efficacy.
- Design and facilitate engaging content for virtual and in-person seminars and webinars, often in partnership with corporate employers.
- Partner with Track Directors and corporate partners to stay current on internship and full-time opportunities, success profiles, and evolving industry standards.
- Provide targeted advising to Fellows on resume development, interview preparation, networking, and internship/job selection strategies.
- Support cross-functional initiatives, including Fellow recruitment and admissions, as needed, to help scale the Career Prep program.
- Monitor Fellow engagement and proactively intervene when Fellows are at risk of falling behind on key milestones.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
What You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of professional experience in Consulting with a proven record of strong professional achievements
- Demonstrated understanding of the bar for success in top private-sector organizations
- Demonstrated bias for action and ability to remain flexible in a growing organization
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build meaningful, quality relationships
- Experience tracking and reporting data; experience using Salesforce preferred
- Passion for and track record of coaching college students and / or professionals
- Willingness and ability to travel at least two weekends a year to program seminars and events, hosted in various locations nationally
