Sr. Engineering Manager, Data Infrastructure

The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles while doing commercial deliveries. We’re looking for talented individuals who will grow robotic deliveries from surprising novelty to efficient ubiquity.

Data powers everything we do at Serve Robotics, from training AI models for our autonomous delivery robots to the business analytics that help us optimize our delivery operations. We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Sr. Engineering Manager, Data Infrastructure to lead the development, optimization, and maintenance of our data infrastructure systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring our data pipelines, storage platforms, and processing environments are scalable, secure, and efficient. Working cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, and operations teams, you'll help drive data-driven decision-making across the company.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for large-scale data infrastructure, supporting both data processing systems and data warehousing solutions.

• Define and drive technical strategy, ensuring systems are reliable, scalable, and aligned with long-term business goals.

• Guide the implementation of best practices in data quality, security, governance, and observability.

• Coach and develop individual contributors, fostering an inclusive and high-performing engineering culture.

• Act as a thought partner to cross-functional leaders in Product, Analytics, Autonomy and Infrastructure, shaping roadmap priorities and delivering measurable business outcomes.

• Evaluate and implement new technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve infrastructure performance and cost-efficiency.

• Monitor infrastructure KPIs and reliability metrics; proactively address bottlenecks or issues.

• Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, sharing context with clarity across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, backend development, and DevOps.

• 3+ years of management experience hiring and developing teams

• Strong experience of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing.

• Strong programming skills in at least one object-oriented language (Python, Java, etc.).

• Advanced level SQL and Data Modeling skills.

• Leadership skills and experience to lead across functional and organizational lines.

• Proven track record of leading technical strategy, making architectural decisions, and delivering large-scale systems with cross-functional impact.

• Strong communication skills to explain and evangelize analytics and data infrastructure.

• A passion for problem-solving and comfort with ambiguity.
