Work from home Full-time role Hiring

OpenText xECM for Engineering Solutions Architect Department: Delivery Employment Type: Full Time Location: USA Remote Reporting To: Director of Delivery Compensation: $140,000 - $160,000 / year Description Summary/Objective: The OpenText Extended ECM for Engineering Architect is responsible for designing and implementing enterprise content management (ECM) solutions tailored to the unique needs of engineering organizations. This role requires deep expertise in OpenText Extended ECM—particularly the Engineering module—as well as SAP integration and engineering content lifecycle management. You will guide clients through full-cycle implementations to manage complex engineering documentation, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve project efficiency through seamless integrations with CAD, PLM, and SAP systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing engineering content (e.g., CAD drawings, BOMs, specs), designing workflows for engineering processes, and integrating ECM with platforms such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SAP PLM, and cloud environments like AWS or Azure. Essential Functions Essential Functions: Solution Architecture & Design

  • Design and architect OpenText Extended ECM for Engineering solutions that support engineering-specific workflows and content.
  • Implement secure, scalable ECM solutions across cloud, hybrid, or on-premises infrastructures.
  • Build intelligent document workspaces for complex assets like projects, equipment, or engineering packages with full lifecycle support

Engineering Content Management

  • Manage engineering documents (e.g., drawings, specs, BOMs, change orders) with version control, metadata governance, and document transmittals.
  • Apply industry standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 19650 (BIM), and ASME to support compliance and structured content management.
  • Enable a single source of truth across engineering content repositories.

Integration with Engineering Ecosystems

  • Integrate OpenText ECM with CAD and PLM tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, SAP PLM).
  • Leverage APIs (REST/SOAP) and middleware (e.g., MuleSoft) for custom integrations with engineering systems.
  • Collaborate with SAP teams to connect SAP modules with engineering documentation (e.g., project systems, asset management).

Workflow and Process Automation

  • Design automated workflows for engineering processes such as drawing review, change request approvals, and transmitters.
  • Implement AI and GenAI features (e.g., intelligent classification, metadata extraction, and drawing comparison tools) to increase process speed and accuracy.
  • Automate repetitive tasks like generating drawing packages or initiating design handoffs.

Project Delivery & Implementation

  • Lead the full lifecycle of ECM implementations including requirements gathering, blueprinting, configuration, deployment, testing, and training.
  • Use implementation methodologies like OpenText Fastrack or agile frameworks to manage deliverables, risk, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Oversee upgrades and data migrations from legacy engineering document systems to OpenText Extended ECM.

Security, Compliance, and Governance

  • Enforce security policies for access control, document audits, and records retention across engineering environments.
  • Ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations such as ITAR (defense), FDA 21 CFR Part 11 (life sciences), and ISO standards.
  • Work closely with compliance officers and auditors to demonstrate ECM's alignment with regulatory requirements.

Cloud Strategy and Infrastructure

  • Deploy OpenText ECM on hyperscaler platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) using SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS models.
  • Support alignment with SAP RISE or GROW strategies to deliver modern, cloud-ready ECM capabilities.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

Experience Required:

  • 5–10+ years of experience in enterprise content management, SAP integrations, or related fields, with hands-on experience in implementing OpenText Extended ECM for SAP solutions.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth expertise in OpenText Extended ECM and Extended ECM for Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP integrations (S/4HANA, SAP PLM, SuccessFactors) and methods like ArchiveLink, Fiori, or CMIS.
  • Familiarity with CAD/PLM platforms and engineering content workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with APIs, middleware (MuleSoft), and scripting languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, or ABAP).
  • Understanding of cloud architectures and security for content platforms.

Business & Engineering Knowledge

  • Understanding of engineering lifecycles from concept to construction to operations.
  • Experience aligning ECM with engineering project phases and deliverables.
  • Strong analytical skills for identifying business pain points and translating them into ECM solutions.

Project & Team Leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional implementation teams including engineers, project managers, and IT.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in agile or waterfall delivery.
  • Ability to mentor team members and collaborate across global engineering and IT teams.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to present complex ECM solutions in accessible terms to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive problem-solving and adaptability to evolving technologies like BIM or GenAI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in OpenText Extended ECM or SAP PLM.
  • Industry-specific certifications such as PMP, CMII, or engineering compliance credentials.
  • Experience in engineering-intensive industries (e.g., construction, manufacturing, energy, aerospace, oil and gas).
  • Familiarity with BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks) and standards (ISO 19650).
