Head of Product Design

Design is the driving force behind our next wave of innovation. As Head of Design, you'll create the vision for how AI and human creativity intersect in collaborative experiences. You'll build and mentor a high impact design team while establishing design as a strategic pillar across the organization. This role demands someone who can balance hands-on craft with strategic leadership, a true player/coach who elevates design's influence while delivering exceptional experiences that demonstrate measurable business impact.

• Build and lead a diverse, high-performing design organization across product design, design systems, and AI experience design

• Craft a forward-thinking design vision and strategy that positions Mural at the forefront of AI-enabled collaboration tools

• Scale design practices, processes, and critique culture that drive consistency and quality while fostering creativity and innovation

• Partner with executive leadership to ensure design has a seat at the table in key strategic decisions

• Mentor designers at all levels, providing clear growth paths while modeling exceptional craft in your own work

• Champion user-centered design principles in our AI initiatives, ensuring solutions balance innovation with usability, ethical considerations, and responsible AI practices

• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to create intelligent workflows that feel natural and enhance user capabilities

• Establish a design language that gracefully incorporates AI capabilities while maintaining intuitive, cohesive experiences

• 8+ years of design leadership experience with 5+ years managing design teams, preferably in SaaS, productivity tools, or creative collaboration products

• Impressive portfolio demonstrating your personal design excellence and the impact of teams you've led

• Experience designing AI-powered features or products that successfully reached market

• Track record of building, scaling, and nurturing high-performing design teams and establishing strong design systems

• Strategic mindset with demonstrated success elevating design's influence across an organization

• Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate design decisions to diverse stakeholders

• Deep understanding of how to balance innovation with practical execution in a fast-moving environment

• Passion for the future of work and collaborative technologies

The base salary for this role ranges from $197,000 - $282,000 + bonus + benefits. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for variable compensation.
