Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

The Enterprise Networks team designs, builds and sustains the network powering Deliveroo’s internal teams 24/7/365 - this includes in both office and kitchen locations in multiple countries across Asia, the Middle-East and Europe.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for proactively improving our Networking environments, facilitating the delivery of business projects and providing feedback and support to adhere to Service Levels. Your support, systems engineering and automation skills will be challenged and appreciated daily. 

Location: We offer a hybrid working model with 3 days a week at our vibrant London HQ near Bank Tube Station.

What You'll Be Doing

• Be a senior member of a team dedicated to running the networks that underpin the success of the business

• Be an advocate representing individuals and groups of users to ensure our fellow colleagues receive the best possible connectivity experience.

• Leading on the delivery of networking projects—from inception and design, to deployment and go-live, with a primary focus on reliable operations.

• Wireless network design, planning, testing and surveying

• Configuration management of firewalls, switches and wireless network hardware

• Contributing to the Operational Excellence of the team, including its on-call, observability and security postures

• Scale the management of the platform globally through automation including python, and drive changes that improve reliability and velocity.

• Create and maintain quality documentation including IPAM and Confluence 

• Visiting a wide variety of Deliveroo sites to where required

Requirements

• A proven track record of success as a Senior Network Engineer especially comfortable with wireless.

• Pride in readable, well-designed, well-tested solutions

• Proven ability to define and run projects from inception to delivery

• Improving leadership skills, including coaching, team-building and general support of  peers and colleagues

• Demonstrable experience with some of the following technologies:

• Juniper Switches

• Juniper Mist Wireless or Ruckus Wireless

• Juniper Firewalls

• Detailed knowledge of networking fundamentals such as the OSI Model and TCP/IP stack, DHCP and DNS, the 802.11 protocol stack and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP

• Demonstrable troubleshooting experience including packet capture and analysis

• Knowledge of IPSec and SSL VPNs on Fortigate and Juniper firewalls.

• Experience with firewall configuration including UTM and firewall rules.

• Relevant higher education and professional certifications such as CWAP, Fortigate NEC4, CCNA, JNCIA, JCNIS-ENT

• (Optional) Experience dealing with vendors and evaluating commercial pricing
