Job Summary: The selected candidate will be required to go on field service calls within the United States to inspect, repair, install, and commission gear drives and other transmission parts at customer sites upon the request of Service Supervisor. The selected candidate shall be able to read and work from blueprints, parts lists, and assembly protocols. There will be use of parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, presses, torches, hand, and power tools. The selected candidate will be responsible for disassembling gear drives, inspecting disassembled parts, write up and reporting failed parts, and advise on replacement parts. Job Responsibilities: Inspection, service, and maintenance on Flender gear drives which include bevel, helical, planetary, mixer drive, mill drive, single and double screw extruder units, hoist and swing gear drives Direct interaction and coordination with customers site personnel Manage technical issues with internal supporting engineering functions Self-motivated and able to work a flexible schedule as required (nights and weekends may be required) Ability to analyze and resolve issues independently and efficiently Write customer facing reports, which include Technicians camera or bore scope photographs Create expense reports Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: Formal education or training in a mechanical discipline, e.g. automotive repair 0 - 1 year of prior work experience in a mechanical field such as automotive, motorcycle, diesel, off-highway, aviation, robotics, or wind power Knowledge and experience with 2D blueprints (assembly drawings), maintenance manuals, and metric system Experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel Physically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and in confined spaces Ability to climb stairs and ladders generally up to 125 meters in height or similar, ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 50 lbs. in weight, and the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time Flexible travel schedule High school diploma or equivalent Must meet body weight restrictions that allow safe use of ladders and equipment as required by the safety regulations Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver’s license at the time of application with an acceptable driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV (department of motor vehicles) checks of their license.
