- Knowledge of student characteristics, campus/college programs, and services available to special populations.
- Knowledge of programs and focus areas in the Meta Majors, Dual Credit, Continuing Education, and Adult Basic Education.
- Skill in using a personal computer and associated software programs.
- Skill in communication and team building across all areas of the college. Ability to prepare/present programs to groups from various backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to supervise, train and evaluate staff.
- Ability to meet work schedules, work independently, follow established procedures and regulations, and use discretion and judgment. Ability to represent the college effectively in a variety of district and community settings.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, and the public.
- Ability to use online student records management systems (e.g., Colleague, NAVIGATE, etc.).
- Ability to interpret and articulate assessment/test results for appropriate Pathway placement.
- Ability to multi-task and work under conditions of high stress and high volume during peak periods.
- Provides advising to students and groups from connection to entry and provides an introduction to career/pathway exploration including MetaMajors. Provides referral services for students.
- Provides introductions to the college's academic programs to include Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Arts in Teaching, Associates of Applied Science, certificates of completion, Dual Credit, Continuing Education, and Adult Basic Education.
- Provides enrollment coaching to traditional and non-traditional student populations to include assistance with admission, financial aid, and scholarship applications.
- Collaborate with ISD partners to promote dual credit opportunities, support dual credit students and transition students to COM post high school graduation.
- Compiles and analyzes data to inform strategic direction and action to effect enrollment.
- Supports daily operational duties (e.g., support of student success and enrollment strategic initiatives, etc.).
- Leads special projects. May be responsible for one or more special projects in support of student success.
- Provides outreach, recruitment and onboarding services including financial aid and scholarship guidance and assistance.
- Communicates internally and externally with students, partners, and stakeholders by e-mail, phone, Chat, F2F, Direct Mail and Web.
- Evaluates and interprets high school and college transcripts and test scores; may proctor assessment exams.
- Serves as an official liaison between students, staff, faculty, and administrators; assesses and coordinates services and streamlines processes in a changing environment.
- Supervises work study students and assists in the training of new employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work is usually performed in an office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Requires work at off-site location, including local area high schools and other COM learning locations (i.e., League City). Requires reliable transportation.
- Supervision exercised is minimal.
- Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. · Some stooping, lifting, or carrying lightweight objects may be required.
