Virtual Special Education Teaching Position - New Mexico K-12

Minimum 1+ years special education experience required. Virtual Special Education Teacher - New Mexico K-12 Schools Position Overview: We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and qualified Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our remote team. This position offers the flexibility of working from home while providing support to students with disabilities. Candidates who are available for the 2025-2026 school year may also apply to be considered in the application pool for future openings. As a Virtual Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment for students with diverse needs, while leveraging technology to provide individualized support and instruction. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of students in a virtual learning environment.
• Provide remote instruction, accommodations, and modifications to ensure all students can succeed in their academic and social development.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other specialists to ensure students receive appropriate support and resources.
• Regularly monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction and goals as needed.
• Conduct virtual IEP meetings, communicating regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, goals, and needs.
• Maintain detailed, accurate records of student progress and ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
• Utilize online tools, platforms, and assistive technology to support students individual learning needs.
• Foster a positive, inclusive online classroom environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Special Education(Masters degree preferred).
• Valid New Mexico Special Education Teaching License.
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation, along with state and federal special education laws.
• Proficient in using virtual learning platforms, assistive technology, and other digital tools to support instruction.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in a virtual environment.
• Self-motivated and able to manage time effectively in a fully remote role.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience teaching students with a variety of disabilities (e.g., autism, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders) in a virtual setting.
• Familiarity with digital tools for special education support and virtual collaboration.
• Knowledge of current best practices in remote learning, special education, and inclusive teaching strategies.
