Summer Camp Counselor

Job description Summer Escape is a camp for children with special needs. We offer a fun, social setting for children of all disabilities. Our camp is modeled on a therapeutic approach that uses everyday opportunities to achieve skills in the natural setting. We provide Occupational, Physical, Speech, and Music Therapy onsite. Activities include: game time, outside play, animal visits, weekly water days, music therapy groups, arts & crafts, drumming, sensory/gym room time and MORE! We are looking for Summer Camp Counselors to engage with a group of 5 campers with various abilities ages 5 to 21 years old. Part-time and full-time positions available between the hours of 7:30am - 6:00pm Monday through Friday. There may be some weekend hours required as well. Responsibilities and Duties Follow plans and take initiative in planning new activities for campers weekly. Take direction from therapists and incorporate therapeutic strategies. Take care of children, keeping them engaged and on-task. Change diapers & keep consistent bathroom schedule for all children. Clean up throughout and at the end of your shift. Lifting, sitting, squatting, exercising, feeding, and playing with children. Providing excellent customer service at all times. Qualifications and Skills The candidate we choose will be a self-starter who loves children and possesses a great attitude, the ability to work in a team environment, and has a disposition to provide the highest level of customer service. Hands-on experience with children required. Experience with children with special needs preferred.
