Sr. Software Engineer
Business Name: Lycoming Engines Function: RD&E Position Title: Software Engineer Reports to: Sr. Manager, Electrical and Systems Engineering Job Summary: Come join the team to work as an integral part of the Lycoming engineering team to support existing engineering frameworks and project initiatives to meet the evolving demand in digitization, electronification and modernization of the propulsion sub-systems in the general aviation space. The selected individual will be responsible for developing software solutions for various products in their respective design lifecycle. The selected candidate will interface with Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering on a regular basis; meanwhile interface with Customers and Suppliers on an as-needed regular basis. Participation in onsite visits to customer or supplier locations as engineering representative may be required on an as-needed basis. Tasks include but are not limited to: ? Utilization of graphical programming language primarily LabVIEW to augment existing SW product offerings for customers ? Software requirements and specification development to support cross-functional engineering development and verification activities ? Test case development and implementation in HILSIM environment for hardware-software verification and validation of various engineering programs ? Interface with Production team to develop, augment existing test stand software capabilities ? Participate in code reviews to support interdomain program may be required (C, C++, Python, R) ? Usage of Application Lifecycle management software's for engineering projects (Helix ALM or equivalent) ? Application of source code management software's for engineering projects (GitLab) Education: ? Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Software engineering or Electrical engineering (with an area of specialization in software) ? Masters Degree is a plus. Position Requirements: ? 3 years of prior work experience in SW realm is required ? Proficient in LabVIEW or equivalent graphical programming language is a must with demonstration of its application in prior work projects. ? Test plan creation, documentation, reporting skills are required ? Excellent presentation skills required - MS Office Suite conversant (Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Project, Word) ? Organizational skills and ability to handle multiple programs and/or multiple activities within a program is strongly desired ? Other programming languages and associated project experiences are a plus ? Knowledge of Aerospace standards (DO-178, DO-160, etc.) is a desirable attribute ? Knowledge of IPC-610, IPC-620, IPC-J-STD-001 is a desirable attribute ? Interpersonal Savvy and ability work with cross-functional team is a desirable attribute ? Understanding of Six Sigma methodologies is a plus ? Understanding of Internal Combustion Engines is a plus ?
