Accounts Payable Specialist

General Overview: The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices. This position is also responsible for managing vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements or related transactions at the direction of the Accounts Payable Supervisor or Manager. Responsibilities:* Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices and recording entries. • Processing accounts payable using accounting software and other programs. • Handling accounts payable for separate entities/companies and vendors. • Analyzing workflow processes and problem solving roadblocks. • Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions. • Maintains historical records. • Establishing and maintaining relationships with new and existing vendors. • Comparing purchase orders, prices, terms of payment and other charges. • Assist AP Manager, Accountants and Auditors in preparing requested documentation. • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed. • Recognizes confidential information and maintains it in accordance with standard procedures. • Must work independently and as a member of team. • Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements:* High school diploma or equivalent experience required. • 3+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or similar field. • Experience generating reports, finding discrepancies, as well as cost-saving opportunities. • Experience with basic data entry tasks or functions. • Experience performing basic math calculations in an Accounting or business environment. • Proficient with Microsoft Excel. • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems helpful, but not required.
