Overview & Responsibilities The primary functions of this position will be determined by the individual’s experience and job title that they are hired on as. This could be anywhere from detailing simple manufacturing drawings to creating average to complex product layouts / 3D models via CAD technologies. Some aspects of the job will be reviewing the accuracy of drawings created by CAD or manual procedures, lead/direct Draftsman or Detailer level personnel and create complex detailed drawings (casing fabrications, bearing housings, rotors, diaphragms etc.).

Responsibilities

This position requires that all Drafting Manual, Engineering (P.E.T.) instructions and Production Control release requirements are implemented as specified. Complex drawings are required by the individual to determine accuracy. The individual is required to make necessary corrections or to assign rework to appropriate personnel. Most work assignments are scheduled by department D.P.A., Associate Designer or Supervisor. Analyzes design specifications, requisitions, and unit layout drawings and/or 3D models to identify the requirements of drawings. Checks completed drawings for pictorial, dimensional, structural, and functional wording accuracy and inclusion of all necessary information. Returns drawings for correction or additions, instructs others as to the corrections and additions needed and rechecks corrected drawings. Prepares Engineering Change Notices, bills of material and other required paperwork, secures signatures and certifies drawings. As required, discusses problems and questions with Engineering and Manufacturing. As assigned, analyzes the requirements for a complete drafting project to identify necessary drawing changes and the need for new drawings, searches files, assigns segments of projects and individual drawings to others, provides instructions, reviews progress, answers questions, and checks completed drawings and bills of material. As required, prepares layout drawings and/or 3D models to verify specifications and to serve as guides for the preparation of finished drawings. Presents drafting procedure and product change suggestions for consideration and review. Maintains related records and files. Performs the functions of a Draftsman and Detailer as necessary.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in specialized CAD technologies is required. Drafting experience with mechanical related activities a plus. Must be fluent with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) hardware and software, preferably AutoCAD and Creo (or related experience in other 3D modeling programs). Training would be provided for anyone not familiar with Creo.
