The Role

Halcyon’s goal is to deliver an anti-ransomware solution that breaks new ground as to what a security product can deliver. Aligned with this goal, Halcyon is looking for an experienced engineer to contribute to our quality assurance practices, ensuring that Halcyon’s code maintains a high quality standard. The high quality of code will allow Halcyon’s product to function properly across all scenarios helping to protect customers from the threat of ransomware.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and contribute to the development of our endpoint test automation framework

  • Document and develop automated tests aligned to the features we’re developing and bug reports

  • Design, document and develop tools to assist with testing

  • Setup and manage our testing environment

  • Contribute to and follow our Coding Style guidelines

  • Able to deliver quality results working autonomously and as part of a unit

  • Be a part of the company culture’s growth

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to develop in Python

  • Familiarity with SQL

  • Understanding and experience with communications channels such as Protobuf, gRPC, Named Pipes, Minifilter Communication Ports, Device IO Controls, and Shared Memory

  • Experience with designing, implementing, and contributing to automated test frameworks

  • Ability to troubleshoot Windows applications using tools such as debuggers, system profilers, and process monitors

  • Knowledge of the Windows Security Model

  • Knowledge and experience using virtualization tools such as Docker and VMWare

  • Experience with Linux development

  • Experience with MacOS development

  • Good written and verbal communication with an ability to write technical documentation

Bonus Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of additional languages: Rust, C++

  • Experience with Windows performance testing and benchmarking

  • Familiarity working with the AWS Cloud

  • Background using Gitlab for CI/CD purposes

  • Fast pace startup past work experience

  • Past work experience testing and delivering an enterprise level security product

Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000

Bonus Target: 10%

In accordance with applicable state and federal laws, the range provided is Halcyon’s reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and equity in the Company.
