Attorney - Private Money Mortgage Lending

We are a small private lender for home mortgages, primarily in Southern California. Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Contract Attorney. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate law, including representing lenders during the foreclosure process (pre- and post-foreclosure). The Contract Attorney will work closely with our portfolio of home loans on compliance, purchase agreements, and other related projects. Duties • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents with precision. • Provide expert advice on the current portfolio of loans, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. • Represent Atherton Funding in litigation proceedings, advocating for our best interests in or outside court. • Stay informed about private lending regulations that may impact our business. • Collaborate with external attorneys and legal staff to develop case strategies and share insights on complex legal issues. • Maintain organized records of all case-related documents and communications. Requirements • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. • Active license to practice law in California. • Proven experience in areas such as estate planning, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, patent law, or tribal law regulations. Legally solid drafting skills with attention to detail. • Excellent research abilities using platforms like Westlaw. • Ability to litigate effectively and represent Atherton Funding in court settings or with borrowers. • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
