RTR Financial Services has been in business since 1999 collecting on behalf of hospitals from insurance carriers. If debt settlement agencies were not in business, patients would be held responsible when an insurance carrier has failed to pay. In recent years, RTR has expanded its services to include government collections such as parking and camera violations. As we continue to grow, we are serving more hospitals and Physician groups nationwide as well as further expanding our participation in other forms of debt settlement collections. Job Description: The Insurance Coder is an integral part of Insurance department at RTR and is responsible for making charge corrections on a denied claim. The position starts with obtaining the status of hospital/physician?s bills (claims) that are sent to Insurance Companies. The employee is expected to retrieve information from the Insurance company both via online portals and via direct calls to the carrier office/s. The employee will be responsible for understanding, based on that information, why claims have been denied and finding the best action to rectify the issue at hand. Attention to detail and trends are important, as is the ability to communicate said knowledge to upper management when requested. The Coder will then be transitioned to perform coding related job functions in about 6-8 weeks from hiring date. The employee is expected to have prior knowledge of coding related denials and the proper action be taken for charge corrections. Qualifications: • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook • Typing speed of approximately 40 words per minute • Moderate computer knowledge, including the ability to learn and navigate new systems and programs. • Ability to write clear and concise notes. • Willingness to participate and to be flexible with changing priorities and projects. • Ability to read and understand previous notes on an account to take the accurate next step toward resolution • Time management skills and a ?team player? mentality. • Detailed understanding of medical billing terminology and processes. • Familiarity with payer portals and denials. • Fluency in telephone communication with carrier representatives. Salary: $16- $22 per hour (determined based upon experience). Expectations: • We require that you have your own computer/laptop, headset and sufficient internet speed (Chromebooks are NOT compatible) • ( Please note that if your determined internet speed and equipment is not efficient, we will not be able to continue with the interview process). • Internet speed has to be a minimum of 50 MBPs. • Computer/laptop requires at least 8GB of RAM. • Upon completion of the1 week in-depth training, employees are expected to complete 20 accounts per day with an accuracy rate of 75%. After 10 weeks of employment, employees are expected to complete 40 accounts per day with an accuracy rate of 85%. • For the first week of training, employees are required to work Monday through Friday 9AM ? 5PM EST. • Cellphones usage is reserved for the two fifteen-minute breaks and lunch hour. 90 Day Probation: After the completion of a 90-day probation, each employee will be reviewed for the possibility of incentives and overtime. Benefits: After 90 days of employment, benefits will include: • Each employee will be eligible to apply for Medical insurance(United Health Care Oxford), Vision & Dental (Guardian Health) & Aflac Insurance programs. • Paid Time Off (PTO) is accrued weekly, with a maximum of sixteen days per full calendar year. • Employee will be auto enrolled into RTR?s 401K plan at a starting3%. RTR matches a quarter of every dollar for up to 4% of investment. Opting out is available. • RTR auto enrolls each employee in UNUM group benefit life insurance for $10,000 at no cost to the employee. There is an option for additional supplemental life insurance at the employee?s cost.
