Property Accountant - great team (1 remote day)
About the position The Property Accountant will oversee the full monthly accounting cycle for a select portfolio of properties within a dynamic and growing family-owned real estate business. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in real estate, who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities Manage high-volume Accounts Payable and ensure timely payments of invoices, including utilities. , Input General Ledger and expense accrual journal entries into RealPage. , Process weekly manual check payments for site renovation projects. , Reconcile credit card statements for site expenses. , Provide copies of invoices, payments, and financial statements monthly. , Assist with annual site budgets and forecasts. , Perform quarterly Balance Sheet account reconciliations. , Conduct bank reconciliations and manage check registers for all accounts. , Process security deposit refunds and handle NSF checks, stop payments, and reissued checks. , Perform monthly vendor aging analysis. , Prepare monthly financial statements, including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flows. , Analyze and explain current and year-to-date revenue and expense variances. , Generate monthly billing comparison reports and utility expense reconciliation for assigned properties. , Support the year-end close process by preparing lead schedules, supporting schedules, and audit binder reports. , Collect and distribute mail within the Corporate office. , Complete other duties as needed. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred. , 3-5 years in Real Estate accounting or related Accounting experience. , Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as experience with RealPage, OneSite, or similar property management software. , Strong understanding of GAAP and financial analysis, especially within residential properties. , Skilled in bank reconciliation and financial statement analysis, with a capacity to manage multiple tasks, solve diverse issues, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
