New York Title Examiner/Reader (Remote)

About the position As a Title Examiner/Reader at First American Financial Corporation, you will play a crucial role in examining titles to determine the legal condition of primarily residential property titles. This position requires you to summarize recorded documents that affect the condition of the title to the property. You will work independently, utilizing your experience to examine titles of varying complexity, determining their status and establishing the chain of title. This is a remote position that can be based anywhere within the United States, but it is essential to have related experience in New York, with New Jersey experience being a plus. In this role, you will perform title examinations and analyze the chain of title for a wide range of title orders, primarily residential. Your responsibilities will include collecting data from informational searches, consolidating that data, conducting analyses, and summarizing the results into comprehensive reports. You will also create and document requirements and exceptions based on your analysis results. Additionally, you will abstract and analyze records such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books to determine ownership and legal restrictions, as well as verify the legal description of the property and the completeness of records. You will be responsible for resolving issues such as missing information, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information contained in the title documentation. Furthermore, you will prepare initial title commitment documentation based on procedural guidelines using Word and/or online databases, and you will prepare and review reports for accuracy. You may also provide interpretations within established guidelines, ensuring that all documentation meets the required standards.
