Miscellaneous Professional Liability Underwriter

Role: This role involves underwriting new and renewal miscellaneous professional liability (MPL) risks, with a strong focus on driving production within Ategrity's underwriting appetite. As an MPL Underwriter, you will report to and work closely with the AVP of MPL to grow and enhance our presence and capabilities in the E&S MPL market This is an excellent opportunity to join Ategrity, a growing company, where you will play an integral role in the underwriting team. This position reports to the AVP of MPL and is fully remote, with approximately 35% travel required. Key Responsibilities: Analyze and underwrite new and renewal MPL risks, ensuring each meets our company's guidelines and risk appetite. Assist in building a profitable MPL book of business, balancing risk exposure and premium targets. Develop and nurture strong broker relationships to drive new business, facilitate renewals, and deliver exceptional service. Conduct thorough risk analysis and pricing assessments for diverse professional liability exposures. Partner closely with the AVP to support strategic underwriting initiatives, refine underwriting guidelines, and optimize workflows. Ensure that underwriting decisions comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining thorough documentation for audit and reporting purposes. Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging risks in the MPL space, contributing insights to adjust underwriting strategies as needed. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; CPCU, RPLU, or other relevant certifications preferred. 2-3 years of underwriting experience in E&S or specialty lines, particularly in MPL or professional liability. Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate complex professional liability risks and make data-informed decisions. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills for effective broker interaction. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with underwriting software or tools is an advantage. Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
