About Us: Founded in 2023 and based in Christchurch, New Zealand, Settlopedia is a dynamic startup dedicated to creating innovative and immersive gaming experiences. Our team currently consists of seven passionate members, and we are proudly supported by the Ministry of Awesome funded by the New Zealand Government. Key Responsibilities: · Art Style Development and Oversight: Lead the creation and continuous optimization of unified 2D art style standards, ensuring high-quality and consistent art assets that deliver a memorable visual experience for players. · Concept Design and Creative Direction: Spearhead early-stage concept design, including character artwork, environment settings, and UI sketches, providing diverse and innovative visual solutions to establish a vivid world and narrative atmosphere. · Adaptation to Diverse Styles: Master a wide range of game types (e.g., card games, board games, RPGs, mobile/WeChat mini-games, interactive narrative games), with the ability to quickly adapt to various themes and art styles. · Team Management and Development: Mentor and guide the art team, sharing experiences and techniques to enhance the team’s overall professionalism, and fostering a culture of efficient collaboration and creativity. · Cross-department Collaboration and Integration: Maintain seamless communication with design, programming, operations, and audio teams, iterating and optimising art solutions in a resource-constrained startup environment to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery. Qualifications: · Experience: 5+ years of working experience in 2D game art roles, preferably in a lead or senior artist position on different projects. · Artistic Foundation: Proficient in hand-drawn and digital painting techniques, with deep knowledge of color, composition, perspective, lighting, and textures. ·Animation: Familiar with UI effects or 2D animation and integration with game engines, leveraging a blend of technical and artistic expertise. · Style: Experience across various art style, prefer strength in East Asian indie game aesthetics. · Creativity and Aesthetics: Strong artistic vision and innovation, capable of delivering high-quality visual concepts and continuously improving designs. · Collaboration Skills: Excellent cross-team communication, capable of understanding design requirements and providing actionable suggestions to ensure project success. · Entrepreneurial Mindset: Strong sense of responsibility, resilience under pressure, and a passion for aligning personal artistic goals with team objectives to grow the company.
