Staff Software Engineer - Networking (REMOTE)

Position Summary GEICO is seeking a Staff Engineer with a deep focus on network engineering and automation on Open-source network systems, cloud, and legacy vendor systems. This advanced role requires a thorough understanding of network design, architecture, ecosystem of server technologies and public cloud ensuring our hardware infrastructure is not only robust and efficient but also pioneering in its advancements.

Qualifications

Strong understanding of Security technologies, solutions and deep network system design knowledge and experience. Familiarity with Software-Defined network architectures and solutions with network operating systems such as open source SONiC, traditional network protocols such as BGP, HW abstraction layer such as Open Compute SAI. Familiarity with virtualization technologies and their interaction with underlying storage infrastructures. Proven ability to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quickly Strong understanding of Software-defined network infrastructure for Hybrid Cloud, including public and private cloud environments. Experience with SDN Controllers such as ONOS SD-Fabric Experience in Linux operating systems and programming languages such as C/C#, Java, Python, GoLang Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work effectively with various teams within the organization, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and external partners. Desired Experience 8+ years of network operations and automation experience 6+ years of experience with systems architecture and design 5+ years of experience in open-source network solutions 5+ years of experience working with hyper scale cloud provider solutions 5+ years of development in a large-scale, mission-critical environment 5+ years' experience with automated testing including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testing Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience Annual Salary $90,000.00 - $260,000.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
