Responsibilities of FedEx Freight Operations Clerk: • Utilize the correct motorized and manual tools, including hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts, to handle freight. • Confirm that all freight documentation accurately represents the freight's description, including type, weight, and hazardous materials, by checking against the current electronic or manual system. • Ensure that cargo is protected during travel by utilizing the appropriate resources like ropes, pallets, and straps to secure freight inside trailers. • Timely recovery or repair of damaged shipment is of utmost importance. • Reporting and documentation are critical aspects of any process; hence necessary measures must be implemented to guarantee the quality and credibility of submissions. • Help clients with the necessary documentation for their shipment and its transportation. • Carry out hostler duties as and when required. • The success of the company depends on adhering to both legal regulations and internal policies and procedures. • Assume any additional duties as necessary. Qualification of FedEx Freight Operations Clerk: • Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift. • Ability to work independently and/or as a team member. • Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred. • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred. • Must be at least 18 years of age. • Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferred. • If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred. • Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator. • Basic written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more. Working Condition of FedEx Freight Operations Clerk: • The erratic weather changes, dangerous fumes, dust accumulation, constant noise, and exhaust emissions make the dock environment a challenging place to work. • Unforeseen operational needs may result in changes in working hours. • Constant engagement with service center representatives; rapid-paced, deadline-constrained.
