A Day In The Life Of a Substitute Teacher • Enjoy flexible workdays, Monday through Friday, with availability from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. • Implement and follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher to ensure a seamless and consistent learning experience for students. • Effectively manage the classroom to encourage student participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment. • Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of each student. • Supervise students both inside and outside the classroom, including in hallways, on the playground, and in the cafeteria. • Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plan. • For long-term assignments, collaborate with department heads (administrators or teachers) to develop lesson plans and assignments that align with the regular teacher’s previous plans. Qualifications • Associate degree or 60+ college credit hours required. • Bachelor's degree or teaching certification preferred, but not required. • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain friendly and positive communication with students, parents, and administrators. • Ability to lead and instruct students across various age groups. • General knowledge of multiple subjects. • Ability to implement lesson plans as directed by the absent teacher or consult with the principal or other responsible staff if needed. • Flexibility and strong critical-thinking skills. • Commitment to ensuring the safety of all students at all times. • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment while performing duties as outlined by the absent teacher.
