Our mission is to transform the way goods move, are stored, and are packaged by combining cutting‑edge mechatronics, AI‑driven software, and environmentally responsible design. With fulfillment centers spanning continents, arenaflex delivers the technology that powers the world’s most efficient supply chains while reducing waste and carbon footprints. If you thrive in an environment where innovation meets real‑world impact, you have found your next career home.

Role Overview – Virtual Testing & Simulation Quality Assurance Engineer

We are seeking an outstanding Quality Assurance Engineer – Virtual & Simulation Testing to join the Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team at arenaflex. In this role you will design, develop, and execute high‑fidelity virtual platforms that emulate full‑scale robotic cells, autonomous transport vehicles, sortation systems, and packaging technologies. Your simulations will use real software stacks, hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) environments, and design‑of‑experiment (DOE) techniques to validate system performance before any physical hardware is built.

The position sits at the intersection of product engineering, QA manual testing, and internal stakeholder groups such as Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Ops Engineering. You will partner closely with product teams to drive quality, synchronize virtual and physical test plans, and ensure that every new solution meets rigorous functional, reliability, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain virtual test platforms: Create simulation environments that incorporate real‑time software, control algorithms, and hardware models to validate end‑to‑end solutions.
  • Implement Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HIL) testing: Build HIL rigs that allow real automation software to interact with simulated hardware, enabling early detection of integration issues.
  • Validate product specifications: Ensure that each solution meets quality, functionality, reliability, maintenance, training, deployment, and service criteria before release.
  • Define and communicate quality standards: Establish measurable quality parameters for hardware, software, controls, and packaging materials, and disseminate them across product development teams.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional simulations: Work with product engineers, QA manual testers, and operations teams to align virtual test plans with physical test campaigns.
  • Analyze defects and recurring issues: Identify bugs, performance bottlenecks, and systemic problems across multiple product lines; propose corrective actions and drive resolution.
  • Engage internal customers: Collaborate with Operations, RME, ACES, Process Engineering, Ops Engineering, WW Design, and other stakeholders to gather feedback and refine simulation fidelity.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance: Ensure all testing activities adhere to federal, state, local, and arenaflex internal policies and industry standards.
  • Support test automation initiatives: Develop scripts, test executors, and automation engines that accelerate simulation runs and integrate with continuous integration pipelines.
  • Mentor and share knowledge: Provide guidance to junior engineers and QA manual testers on best practices for virtual testing, modeling, and HIL methodologies.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with large, cross‑functional engineering teams on modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fulfillment‑system technologies, including storage equipment, material handling systems, automated sortation, and related automation hardware.
  • Proven ability to design and execute high‑fidelity simulations that incorporate real software stacks and hardware models.
  • Strong time‑management skills with a track record of meeting aggressive project deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a focus on root‑cause analysis and systematic improvement.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time to business locations, project sites, and customer facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, high‑speed packaging technologies, and robotic systems.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with HIL testing frameworks, real‑time operating systems, and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Gazebo, or ANSYS.
  • Exceptional communication skills for coordinating with engineering, operations, and senior leadership across multiple geographies.
  • Project‑management experience, including the ability to initiate, plan, and successfully close multi‑disciplinary projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and lifecycle analysis, with an eye toward reducing environmental impact.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Modeling & Simulation: Proficiency in building accurate digital twins, creating physics‑based models, and integrating real software components.
  • Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HIL) Expertise: Ability to design HIL test rigs, manage real‑time data acquisition, and troubleshoot hardware‑software interactions.
  • Design‑of‑Experiment (DOE): Skilled at planning and executing DOE studies to explore multi‑variable design spaces efficiently.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Comfortable working with diverse stakeholder groups, influencing decisions, and driving consensus.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Strong written communication for creating test plans, defect reports, and executive summaries.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset: Passion for automating test processes, reducing cycle time, and increasing test coverage.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities
