Make a Meaningful Impact Every Single Day — Join arenaflex as a Remote Customer Service Representative Serving Northeast Ohio Communities

Are you a compassionate communicator with a genuine desire to help people navigate some of life’s most important services? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, remote call center environment where your empathy, patience, and problem-solving skills can directly improve someone’s quality of life? If so, arenaflex invites you to bring your talent to a mission-driven role that supports public health agencies, social service programs, and community resources across the Cleveland region and beyond.

This is more than a typical customer service job. As a Remote Customer Service Representative with arenaflex, you will serve as a vital first point of contact for residents seeking assistance with public services, social services, and health-related programs. Every call you take is an opportunity to connect someone in need with the right resource, the right information, and the right support. Whether you are helping a parent find childcare assistance, guiding a senior toward healthcare resources, or supporting an individual in crisis, your work will ripple outward into the Northeast Ohio community in ways that truly matter.

arenaflex is partnering with a respected local not-for-profit organization to expand its remote support team. We are seeking detail-oriented, emotionally intelligent professionals who take pride in delivering exceptional service, even during challenging conversations. If you are local to Northeast Ohio, have a reliable wired internet connection, and are ready to work a consistent second-shift schedule, this three-month engagement could be the perfect opportunity to build your customer service career within a purpose-driven environment.

About the Role: Remote Customer Service Representative at arenaflex

This position is fully remote, with one to two weeks of initial onsite training provided to ensure you are confident, prepared, and connected with your team before transitioning home. After training, you will work from the comfort of your own home, Monday through Friday, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The pay for this role is $19 per hour, and the assignment is expected to last three or more months, with the potential for extension based on business needs and performance.

As a Remote Customer Service Representative, you will handle inbound calls, emails, and live chat inquiries from individuals seeking information about local resources. Your primary mission will be to assess each caller’s unique needs, provide accurate and compassionate guidance, and connect them with the appropriate services offered by public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and health providers in the Northeast Ohio region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inbound Call and Digital Communication Handling: Respond to a high volume of inbound calls, emails, and live chat messages from community members seeking assistance with public services, social services, and health-related programs. Use exceptional customer service techniques to assess each individual’s needs and deliver accurate, timely information.
  • Resource Navigation and Referral: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of nonprofit and public resources available in the Cleveland area and surrounding Northeast Ohio communities. Match callers with the appropriate services based on their specific circumstances and eligibility.
  • De-Escalation and Crisis Support: Implement proven customer service techniques to de-escalate tense or emotional situations. Respond in a professional, nonjudgmental manner when interacting with individuals from all backgrounds, including those experiencing crisis, distress, or uncertainty.
  • Action Planning and Follow-Up: Build individualized action plans for callers based on a structured needs-assessment process. Follow up with individuals after the initial call to ensure the action plan is being executed and that they have successfully connected with the right resources.
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping: Accurately document all caller interactions, referrals, and follow-up activities in the organization’s customer relationship management (CRM) system. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all data privacy protocols.
  • Continuous Learning and Team Collaboration: Stay current on available community resources, agency updates, and best practices by attending team meetings, completing assigned readings, and participating in ongoing training opportunities.
  • Cultural Competency and Inclusion: Adapt communication style and approach to effectively serve callers from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds. Demonstrate respect, empathy, and patience in every interaction.
  • Quality and Performance Standards: Meet or exceed individual and team performance metrics related to call handling time, customer satisfaction, resolution rates, and documentation accuracy.

Essential Requirements

  • Residency in Northeast Ohio: Candidates must be local to the Northeast Ohio region, as the role supports community-based services in the Cleveland area and surrounding counties.
  • Reliable Wired Internet Connection: A stable, high-speed wired internet connection is required for the duration of the assignment to ensure consistent call quality and system performance.
  • Detail Orientation: The ability to accurately capture and document caller information, follow established protocols, and maintain organized records is essential.
  • Active Listening Skills: Strong listening skills are critical for understanding caller needs, asking the right questions, and identifying appropriate resources.
  • Multitasking Ability: The capacity to navigate multiple systems, take notes, and engage in meaningful conversation simultaneously is required.
  • Calm Under Pressure: The ability to remain composed and avoid escalating tense situations is a non-negotiable attribute for this role.
  • Patience and Empathy: A patient, understanding demeanor is essential when working with individuals who may be frustrated, confused, or in distress.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adjust communication style and approach to suit callers from a wide variety of backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Availability: Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, including the initial one to two weeks of onsite training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a call center, customer service, or social services environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Northeast Ohio community resources, public health programs, or social service agencies is a strong plus.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are welcomed and may be especially valuable in serving diverse populations.
  • Experience using CRM software, ticketing systems, or similar database tools.
  • Training or certification in crisis intervention, de-escalation, or trauma-informed care.

Skills and Competencies for Success

Success in this role requires a unique blend of technical proficiency and emotional intelligence. You will need strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to think critically and solve problems on the fly, and a genuine commitment to helping others. Above all, you will need a service-oriented mindset — a belief that every caller deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and care.
