[Remote] DevOps Engineer

TurboVets is transforming how veterans access the benefits they’ve earned, and they are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to scale, harden, and automate their cloud platform. The role involves designing CI/CD architectures, evolving AWS infrastructure, optimizing release workflows, and mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain GitHub Actions pipelines optimized for large multi-service deployments
- Architect Continuous Delivery flows using AWS CodeDeploy and related AWS services
- Lead container orchestration using AWS ECS, including manifest and deployment strategy design
- Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code using CDK for Terraform
- Partner with solution architects and engineering leads to shape platform direction
- Improve system reliability, observability, and release consistency
- Drive DRY, minimalistic CI/CD designs that reduce operational overhead
- Mentor junior DevOps and software engineers in DevOps best practices
- Communicate DevOps priorities and tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Skills
- 5–8+ years in DevOps/SRE/platform engineering roles
- Strong command of: Docker/Linux containers
- AWS services (ECS, EC2, CodeDeploy, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch)
- GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools
- Networking fundamentals in distributed systems
- Shell scripting (Bash/POSIX)
- Blue-Green or similar progressive delivery techniques
- Solid understanding of package and dependency management (e.g., NPM)
- Experience with Jira, Scrum, or Kanban workflows
- High-availability architecture design
- DNS/edge networking familiarity
- Exposure to FinOps or cloud cost governance
