[Remote] Principal AI Engineer (REMOTE / US)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Siemens Energy is a leading energy technology company with a legacy of innovation and sustainability. They are seeking a Principal AI Engineer to architect enterprise-scale multi-agent systems that enhance the Gas Services value chain, leading a team to define technical direction and implement cutting-edge AI solutions.
Responsibilities
- Architect enterprise‑scale multi‑agent systems where specialized agents coordinate complex workflows across multiple business functions
- Define the technical vision and reference architectures for the AI Agent Factory, the platform used to build, deploy, and govern agents across the enterprise
- Design robust coordination protocols and orchestration patterns that enable reliable multi‑agent operation in production environments where downtime has real‑world energy impact
- Translate cutting‑edge agentic AI research into production‑grade systems, delivering custom, code‑first implementations and fine‑tuned LLMs for industrial domains, no low‑code abstractions
- Mentor and elevate Staff and Senior engineers, setting the standard for engineering excellence, technical rigor, and a strong code‑first culture across the AI Factory
- Communicate technical strategy to senior leadership, bridging what’s possible in agentic AI with what drives measurable value for the energy business
Skills
- 6–9 years of production AI/ML experience. Candidates with more experience can be considered at a higher level
- 3+ years designing and shipping multi-agent or complex LLM-based systems at scale
- Proven track record at a top-tier technology technical consulting or big tech company (EX; Deloitte, Accenture, Google, Meta, Oracle, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, or equivalent), with experience operating at an elite technical bar and the drive to take on a new, high‑impact challenge
- You've built production agents and tooling from the ground up, working across Python, TypeScript, and Go, with hands‑on LLM fine‑tuning (LoRA/QLoRA) and custom orchestration—far beyond prebuilt frameworks
- Experience with LangGraph and AutoGen, and the ability to build custom agent coordination layers when needed
- Strong communicator with the ability to clearly explain emergent agent behaviors, coordination trade‑offs, and system design decisions to non‑technical stakeholders and executive leadership
- Comfortable operating across time zones, enabling strong day‑to‑day collaboration with European partners (UTC−2 to UTC+2 overlap strongly preferred)
- Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
