[Remote] Principal Consultant - Cybersecurity

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. ABS Group is a global leader in marine and offshore classification, looking for a Principal Consultant to serve as the on-the-ground OT cybersecurity expert for a major industrial client. The role involves advising on ICS/DCS security controls, supporting compliance efforts, mentoring team members, and driving program maturity while managing client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource on project tasks to help ensure quality services are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with client requirements
  • Provide regular updates to the project manager and assist with defining, sequencing, and estimating project tasks as part of project planning
  • Review project plans to understand scope, schedule, deliverables, and assigned responsibilities
  • Participate in client and project team meetings and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Assist with research, data analysis, and stakeholder or customer analysis to support project execution and recommendations
  • Prepare written documents, reports, presentations, and other client deliverables; assist in presenting results and recommendations to clients
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of project deliverables and ensure work products meet agreed expectations
  • Accurately track project hours and manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and adapting to changing client needs
  • Demonstrate understanding of ABS Group products and services and identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency across the business unit
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients to support business development and delivery of current and additional services
  • Participate in proposal development, marketing activities, conference presentations, technical papers, and networking efforts to promote ABS Group capabilities
  • Support ICS/OT cybersecurity activities within capital projects, operational programs, and compliance-related initiatives in industrial environments
  • Serve as a cybersecurity advisor to control systems and project teams, helping align security, operational, and client requirements
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, control systems, IT, operations, and other stakeholders to support project execution and client outcomes
  • Contribute to cybersecurity-related documentation, compliance support activities, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support identification of client needs and service opportunities related to industrial cybersecurity, control systems, and operational resilience

Skills

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Must have an advanced degree or bachelor's degree and equivalent experience
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance required
  • Ability to gain, retain, illustrate comprehension of learned technical knowledge, and transfer knowledge to other members of the team
  • Ability to mentor/coach mid-level consultants and hone technical skills in others
  • Ability to actively listen to the needs of our clients by receiving shared information, determining context of the information provided and generating probing questions to better understand, retaining the information for future access, engaging and collaborating with sales team on potential opportunities, and responding with solutions
  • Openly accepts change as part of business evolution to meet the needs of our clients, provides recommendations to enhance business, and drives change across the business unit
  • Possess a firm understanding of key performance indicators and their significance to the business and take action to drive results amongst the business unit
  • Ability to utilize established rapport and role as a subject matter expert with existing clients to facilitate development of new business through identifying and consistently generating new business opportunities
  • Ability to coach others on development of customer intimacy and new opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver successful outcomes
  • Must take responsibility for their actions, behaviors, decisions, and results and those of the team they lead
  • Must seek feedback and utilize root cause analysis to improve performance
  • Must understand business goals and hold self and team members accountable for keeping commitments and high standards
  • Must be dependable and consistent
  • Ability to demonstrate independent, objective, open-minded thinking with strong attention to detail and sound judgment
  • Demonstrate a proficient level of time management skills
  • Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System
  • While the position is remote, regular travel (50%+) to client sites and project locations is a core part of the role
