We believe that great science paired with great storytelling is what drives smarter business decisions, and we are seeking a talented Senior Data Scientist to join our growing remote team and help shape the future of intelligent decision-making.

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Scientist to design, develop, and deploy advanced analytics solutions that drive measurable business impact. In this role, you will leverage cutting-edge machine learning techniques, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics to extract insights from massive datasets and deliver strategic recommendations. You will serve as a trusted consulting partner to program leaders, collaborating across finance, research, engineering, and executive teams to shape the analytical direction of key initiatives. If you thrive on solving complex problems, mentoring others, and translating sophisticated quantitative methods into clear business value, arenaflex wants to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and optimize predictive and prescriptive models using advanced machine learning, statistical modeling, probability theory, and decision science techniques.
  • Innovate by continuously exploring, testing, and adapting new modeling methodologies to improve analytical performance and accuracy.
  • Translate complex business questions into well-structured analytical frameworks, identifying the right data, methods, and metrics to deliver meaningful solutions.
  • Apply rigorous statistical analysis to large, complex datasets, including techniques such as customer profiling, segmentation analysis, survey design, time series modeling, and data mining.
  • Develop optimization algorithms, recommendation engines, and decisioning systems that power enterprise-scale applications.
  • Program, test, and deploy solutions using Python, PySpark, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and related technologies within modern data engineering ecosystems.
  • Build and evaluate supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms, including decision trees, regression models, XGBoost, K-means clustering, anomaly detection, interpretable ML, and Bayesian methods.
  • Architect and maintain cloud-based analytics workflows on Azure and Databricks, with efficient querying in Snowflake.
  • Implement best-in-class software engineering practices, including version control with GitHub, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and agile development methodologies.
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, research, software engineering, and business leadership to define product requirements and provide ongoing analytical support.
  • Communicate findings clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership, through written reports, presentations, and visualizations.
  • Contribute to financial decision-making by quantifying risk, modeling outcomes, and providing data-driven forecasts that inform business strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, curiosity, and continuous learning.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of four years of experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative analysis, or computational fields; OR a High School diploma/GED with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree (M.S.) in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least four years of hands-on experience working with large-scale, complex datasets to build, optimize, and deploy machine learning, predictive, forecasting, or optimization models.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, or comparable programming languages.
  • Demonstrated expertise in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering and selection, pattern detection, distribution analysis, results visualization, and insight extraction to support informed, data-driven business decisions.
  • Experience building and interpreting decision trees and classification models.
  • Strong working knowledge of supervised learning techniques (linear and logistic regression, time series modeling, generalized linear models, decision trees, support vector machines, etc.) and unsupervised learning techniques (K-means, hierarchical clustering, association rules, principal component analysis).
  • Experience with cloud-based machine learning platforms, distributed computing frameworks, data pipelines, cloud data warehouses, and serving engines.
  • Proven ability to design, execute, and analyze A/B experiments and translate results into actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey rigorous technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success thriving in dynamic, fast-paced environments with ambiguity, competing priorities, and the need to deliver measurable results.
  • Track record of effectively communicating technical solutions and advocating for analytical best practices to research scientists, engineering teams, and business audiences.
  • At least two years of experience directly contributing to financial decisions within an enterprise environment.
  • At least two years of experience in direct management, indirect management, or cross-functional team leadership.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with IoT platforms and Edge AI implementations.
  • Experience with Reinforcement Learning techniques and frameworks.
  • Industry experience in healthcare, retail, pharmacy, or consumer analytics.
