Key Responsibilities
- Software Development: Demonstrate intermediate to advanced capability in software development, writing production-grade code that is clean, testable, and maintainable.
- Agile Collaboration: Contribute to software deliverables as a core member of an agile team through consistent development practices, including the use of shared tools, common components, and thorough documentation.
- Code Quality: Participate actively in code reviews and automated testing, helping to enforce high standards across the team and mentoring junior developers.
- Defect Remediation: Troubleshoot fundamental software components, identify code defects, and drive them to resolution with a sense of urgency.
- Deployment & Operations: Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Automation: Automate repetitive solutions in test and production environments to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Scalability: Design systems that automatically scale applications based on demand projections, ensuring performance under peak loads.
- Technical Leadership: Lead a small team of engineers, motivating them to reach their full potential through coaching, mentorship, and setting a clear technical vision.

- API & Specification Design: Author API specifications, lead code reviews, and conduct testing in continuous integration runs or build verification/automation tools.
- Visualization & Prototyping: Apply visualization and other techniques to fast-track concepts and communicate complex data flows clearly.
- Sprint Execution: Act as a core member of a Scrum team driving user story analysis, elaboration, design, development, testing, and build automation.
- Platform Ownership: Manage a specific platform or product, or serve as part of a dynamic resource pool assigned to projects based on demand and business need.
- Technology Scouting: Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies that deliver measurable business value.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field — OR — a Master's degree in Computer Applications (MCA) or equivalent.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience, including experience leading teams of developers and Scrum teams.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with Hadoop ecosystem components, including MapReduce, Hive, and Spark (Core, SQL, and PySpark).
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, including star/snowflake schemas, slowly changing dimensions, and ETL best practices.
- Hands-on programming experience in Core Java, Python, or Scala.
- Deep expertise in Hadoop and Spark architecture, including how the frameworks handle distributed processing, fault tolerance, and resource management.
- Strong experience writing and understanding complex SQL queries (Hive/PySpark dataframes), with the ability to optimize joins and transformations over massive datasets.
- Solid experience in UNIX shell scripting for automation and data processing tasks.
- Proven ability to design and develop advanced data pipelines for both batch and real-time data processing.
- Experience in the full software development lifecycle — analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment of system applications.
- Demonstrated ability to create and document technical and functional specifications, and to analyze software and system processing flows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, including building microservices and scalable cloud-native solutions.
- 3+ years of experience designing and building solutions using Kafka streams or messaging queues for high-throughput, low-latency data movement.
- Experience with source control platforms like GitHub or Bitbucket, and with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB.
- Knowledge of the financial reporting environment is a strong plus.
- Mastery of distributed computing environments and the unique challenges they present.
