[Remote] Network Installation Specialist - Journeyman

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. By Light Professional IT Services LLC is a company that supports defense, civilian, and commercial IT customers worldwide. They are seeking a Network Installation Specialist who will perform the installation of networking equipment, particularly focusing on optical hardware, and will also troubleshoot and resolve related issues.

Responsibilities

• Install, route, and secure fiber optic cabling, racks, ironwork (ladder rack, subfloor infrastructure), patch panels, and cable management hardware (i.e. Panduit raceway, Fiber Management Systems (FMS)) in accordance with TIA/EIA and DoW standards
• Perform fusion splicing, connector termination, and cable preparation for singlemode, multimode fiber systems, and copper cabling
• DC Power cable (determining path, wax cord lacing), HTAP, and equipment
• Conduct, document, and analyze results from OTDR, power meter, and continuity tests to diagnose and repair fiber issues
• Adhere to security level access, material handling, and protocols
• Interpret SOWs, site drawings, and infrastructure diagrams to maintain accurate records of network routes

Skills

• One year to three years of experience involving the construction, maintenance, or repair of various types of networking or electronics equipment or an equivalent combination of education from a related technical discipline for the required experience
• Proficiency in Telcordia standards, fiber optic splicing, and testing equipment
• Basic knowledge of communications installations
• Some experience with various network devices (e.g. IP routers, optical/IP switches) and ability to install network devices per DoW and Industry Implementation Standards
• Communications skills including verbal, written, and graphic and experience with customer service environments
• Proficiency with MS Office applications/Google documents/sheets/slides for reporting
• Active Secret Clearance or higher
• Must be able to travel 90% of the time on deployments for both CONUS and potentially OCONUS locations
• Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs)
• Previous experience with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber and fiber cabinets is highly desirable
• Experience with specific equipment manufacturers (e.g., Corning)
• Familiarity with network security products
• Familiar with Amy installations
