Responsibilities
- Identify, secure, and expand new business that will impact Wayfinder's reach
- Prospect strategically and intentionally across your territory—researching districts, identifying decision-makers, and building a pipeline with clear prioritization
- Work with a business development team to identify and contact interested districts
- Have four to six meaningful conversations a day with prospective district partners + educators to help them understand the importance of purpose learning and start the process of becoming a partner school
- Create authentic, meaningful, and long-lasting relationships with a variety of stakeholders in the education field
- Serve as a problem-solver for potential schools and help them see how Wayfinder could help advance their mission
- Continuously follow up with schools who are interested in Wayfinder and help them overcome barriers to bringing purpose learning to their school
- Visit potential district partners at site visits
Skills
- 5+ years in a quota-carrying closing role in TX: You have a proven track record of attaining or exceeding quota for multiple consecutive years in a closing role, not just outreach or as a BDR. For-profit or non-profit, products or services: what matters is that you've consistently delivered results in a high-rejection environment. You have carried and met/exceeded a quota in the TX region specifically
- Experience selling software or curriculum related to whole child development: You have experience with supporting districts in exploring resources related to MTSS, SEL, College + Career Readiness, and/or Behavior Support. You have supported district-level decision makers who are responsible for counseling, climate, and/or behavior in the past
- Strategic territory ownership: You build your own territory plan from scratch, segmenting, prioritizing, and sequencing outreach independently. You don't need a playbook handed to you, and are truly the CEO of your own territory
- Complex stakeholder management: You're comfortable navigating multi-stakeholder district deals—engaging superintendents, curriculum directors, and school boards alongside building-level leaders
- Self-motivated: This is a highly self-motivated role. You're a self-starter who takes ownership without waiting to be told
- Organized: You're talking to hundreds of people across dozens of organizations. Staying on top of it all is second nature
- Strong relationship builder: Your main role is building relationships with prospective schools and educators. You make connections quickly and sustain them over time
- Familiarity with K-12 education: You don't have to have been a classroom teacher, but you need to understand how K-12 systems work. A lot of this job is helping clients figure out where Wayfinder fits into their district
- Purpose-alignment: This job needs to fit your own sense of purpose. It should align with your personal story and values
- Persuasive: You understand the value and importance of the purpose learning movement and can make a compelling case for it to prospective partners
- Worked in K-12 schools as a teacher, counselor, and/or administrator
- Worked in a traditional sales/outreach role and moved up the ranks
- Had experience working for a start-up
- Background with Salesforce, Outreach.io, and Gong
