Senior Python Engineer
Ciklum is looking for a Senior Python Engineer to join our team full-time in Poland. About the role: As a Senior Python Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. We are partnering with a leading industrial automation company on a high-stakes, 24-week engineering engagement (15 June – 1 December 2026) to significantly upgrade the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline behind their AI-powered copilot product. Operating under an embedded Co/Labs model based in Poland, our team is tasked with improving retrieval quality, context precision, and grounding frameworks to minimize code generation hallucinations. The core technical milestone is building an AST-aware Code-RAG solution tailored for industrial automation syntax (IEC 61131-3 standard). All deliverables must be developed and transferred directly as raw Python source code into the client’s secure Azure DevOps environment, ensuring absolute data sovereignty and eliminating third-party SaaS dependencies. Responsibilities: Pipeline Audit & Baseline Setup: Lead the initial pipeline audit during Phase 1, instrumenting baseline KPIs directly onto the client's actual production pgvector setup, and stand up the baseline evaluation framework Retrieval Strategy & Grounding: Take ownership of the engineering strategy for hybrid retrieval optimization, re-ranking tuning, and the implementation of multi-turn grounding and citation frameworks to aggressively reduce hallucination rates Architecture Implementation Bridge: Act as the hands-on engineering bridge between the Principal Architect’s blueprints and the daily development backlog, translating high-level design into stable, deployable Python components Code Quality & Technical Supervision: Conduct thorough architectural code reviews, vet pull requests before repository merging, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level implementation engineers Integration & Handover Validation: Support full end-to-end pipeline integration, execute system regression testing, and assist in generating runbooks for the final client handover and Hypercare window Requirements: Professional Experience: 5+ years of commercial experience in Machine Learning or NLP engineering, with recent, heavily documented experience building and deploying production-grade RAG architectures Core Technical Stack: Mastery of Python along with deep hands-on expertise implementing hybrid search logic (combining BM25/lexical lookup with dense vector database search like pgvector) Evaluation Frameworks: Direct experience working with automated validation frameworks (specifically RAGAS or directly comparable programmatic evaluation tools) to score faithfulness and context recall Engineering Standards: Proven experience establishing linting, testing, and structural code quality benchmarks inside Azure DevOps or GitHub environments Nice to Have: Familiarity with parsing heavy industrial/technical documentation corpora, custom prompt optimization, or low-level LLM fine-tuning parameters Location Constraint: Must be physically located in Poland or Eastern Europe to ensure real-time collaboration with the embedded project squad What`s in it for you?
